GWD in Conversation with Kate Harris

Kate was in conversation with Green Women’s Declaration Co-Director, Jude English. Their wide ranging conversation began with the Seventh Green Women’s Declaration: 'Lesbians are, by definition, women who are same-sex attracted and are entitled to organise and create spaces based on that definition', and went on to explore the current state of gender identity ideology.

Kate Harris, a life-long feminist and lesbian campaigner, left her role as fundraiser and ambassador for Stonewall when they began to redefine same-sex attraction as same-gender attraction and refused her and others’ challenges to debate. In 2019, with Bev Jackson, she co-founded the LGB Alliance, which campaigns and advocates for lesbians, gay men and bisexuals. It has been pivotal in reinvigorating hope for lesbians by engaging in public debates and legal challenges, most recently as one of the ‘lesbian interveners’ in the successful For Women Scotland vs Scottish Ministers appeal at the Supreme Court. It is also building a new LGB culture with a helpline for young people, social events, a network of local groups and the recent LGB International.
