Analysis: Green Party Internal Elections - GPEx Chair

The next instalment in our detailed analysis of candidates for the Green Party Executive 2025.

Judy Maciejowska - GPEx Chair

View Judy's video here

Judy has been a GPEW member for more than 40 years and has held many roles in various local parties. She has a wealth of experience as a candidate and as a former Elections Co-Ordinator on the Executive.
She has watched the Party grow and believes that GPEW can maintain its values through debating differences and evolving in a mature way. Working cohesively will bring long term success.

Judy makes 8 promises to members - that she will:

1 Work with other governance bodies to enable us harmoniously, to achieve the party’s strategic goals;

2 Work with the Finance Coordinator/Treasurer to help them overcome financial pressures;

3 Support GPEx colleagues and staff in their endeavours, offer advice and help untangle knots where necessary;

4 Ensure the Party always operates within the law, even though we may

campaign to change the law;

5 Ensure disciplinary systems adhere to process and do not bring the party into disrepute;

6 Support Local Parties, Regions and Special Interest Groups;

7 Ensure the party is a welcoming place for all who adhere to our values, our aims and objectives;

8 Always be available to colleagues and members, responding swiftly to

correspondence.

What does GWD think?

GWD supports Judy. She has a long track record of serving GPEW in many roles. While she has not always recognised the scale of the lack of internal democracy, she is stepping up now to bring her undoubted skills into play.

She will not be able to achieve all her promises single-handedly and needs a good team on GPEx to support her. GWD supports Judy because we believe that she can see the problems and has the vision and courage to tackle them.

Jon Nott - GPEx Chair

Jon has served three years as GPEx Chair (and previously was Party Treasurer). He has a thorough knowledge of Green Party structures and is standing for re-election.

GPEW membership, income, Councillors and MPs have all increased greatly during Jon's time as GPEx Chair. If re-elected, Jon says he would:

Ensure that our membership, candidates, and those serving on our governance bodies, reflect and represent the communities that we serve.

Increase the resources available to support our elected representatives, candidates, local parties and the central infrastructure.
Replace the 1989 constitution with something fit for the current moment.

Jon has not made an election video for members to watch.

What does GWD think?

Jon has a long history in GPEW and understands how the Party functions but under his leadership, the Party of science has become the Party of gender ideology. Jon's inaction has allowed authoritarian and unconstitutional behaviour to flourish.

Jon has been weak in the face of injustice and unresponsive when presented with evidence of wrongdoing. He has swept Speaking Out submissions under the carpet, thus failing in his duties to the financial and legal wellbeing of the Party. He has colluded in the persecution of Green Party Women.

Suspended and expelled members are horrified that the party they joined has changed beyond recognition and responsibility for that must lie with Jon.
