GWD Stall BANNED from Conference in Bournemouth

You may have heard that Green Women's Declaration has been in the news this week. We have been busy preparing for the Green Party Conference – and despite the best efforts of the party, we will be there, albeit outside, not inside.  The Times and other outlets have covered our story, and we wanted to update you directly on what's been going on.

The #Stallgate Story

We submitted our conference stall booking on 6th June, and it was accepted on 28th August. We were thrilled and shared this exciting news with you, our supporters, and also on social media.

Following our announcement, a coordinated campaign emerged from trans rights activists within the party to challenge our presence. This included a petition and widespread dissemination of defamatory claims misrepresenting our aims, values and past behaviours.

On Wednesday afternoon – less than 48 hours before the conference – we were informed that our stall had been cancelled.

Why This Matters

We believe this action constitutes discriminatory treatment based on Gender Critical belief and sex, undermining the rights of women to advocate for single-sex spaces, services, and sports – rights that are protected under UK law. The accusations made against our members, including claims of hostile and confrontational behaviour, are wholly unfounded.

We note that both Labour Women's Declaration and Liberal Voice for Women have successfully defended their right to advocate for single-sex provisions at their respective Party conferences. The Green Party's failure to learn from these precedents is disappointing.

We are currently seeking legal advice regarding the cancellation and the defamatory allegations made against our organisation. If you would like to support us, please donate here.

Moving Forward

Despite this setback, our commitment remains unwavering. We'll be present outside the conference venue throughout the weekend, and we'd love to see you there. If you're attending a conference in Bournemouth, please come and speak to us!

We're incredibly grateful to everyone who has contributed to our resources fund – your support has made our presence possible. You can find our leaflets and materials on our website.

We remain committed to respectful, lawful advocacy and will continue to stand up for women's rights in political spaces.
