Hustings Questions for Leaders

GPEW Members! Leaders Hustings are a chance for you to hold candidates to account and press them on issues you care about. GWD believes the new leader(s) of GPEW must uphold women's sex-based rights #ForWomenAndPlanet. Please attend your regional or other hustings and ask questions. Here are some suggestions:

  • Will you fully resource and authorise an independent investigation into how the 21-24 governance team wasted £400k on a discrimination case against a former deputy leader that the party lost?

  • How will you prevent more catastrophic legal and financial losses like this ?

  • Do you agree that local authorities that Greens control must now implement policy that upholds the Supreme Court judgment ?

  • If elected, will you bring the Party into line with the Supreme Court judgment and implement the legal requirements of the Equality Act 2010 in the party's Code of Conduct and party practices?

  • How will you ensure women's lawful rights to single-sex spaces are enacted within the party, and protect women advocating for their sex-based rights?

  • What are your plans to end the egregious actions of the party's disciplinary system, whereby scores of loyal party members have been sanctioned and expelled for advocating for child safeguarding and women's rights, including Councillors, spokespeople and six chairs of Green Party Women?

  • Do you agree that the sanctioning of six co-chairs of Green Party women within the last four years betrays a serious level of institutionalised misogyny within the Party and how do you intend to address this?

  • Does the Queerphobia guidance exclude lesbians and gay men, part of whose identity rests on same sex attraction rather than same gender attraction? What is your reaction to a lesbian being thrown out of an LGBTQI+ meeting at conference, for asking why 'sex' was not included as a factor in oppression, when intersectional was specifically defined by the woman who termed the coin as including sex and colour, as well as other factors?

  • In what circumstances do you agree with compelled speech?

  • How does the Green Party show that it values women members?

  • What work is GPEW, and more widely, GPEW with other national Green Parties, doing to lobby for populations forced to relocate due to climate change?

  • What are your top three ecological priorities?

  • Why is it deemed transphobic by the party for women to ask for their human rights to be upheld?
