Why The GPEW Internal Elections Matter
Are you still a Green Party Member? Do you regularly talk to people who are? Read on.
You have asked us "Why should we care when there are so many Greens in Exile?"
It's a fair question. Many members have been expelled, suspended, or felt forced to leave the Green Party over our commitment to women's sex-based rights. So why are we asking if you'll consider running for leadership positions?
Because however angry and hurt we are, these positions still matter.
The Executive (GPEx) shapes the day-to-day running of the party - how it operates, what gets prioritised.
The Leadership Team sets the culture of the Party - who gets heard, and what we care about.
The brutal truth: If we step back, these roles will be filled by people who actively oppose everything we've fought for. Our absence won't teach them a lesson - it will just give them a clearer path to implement policies that harm women and girls and take the Green Party further away from its core values.
Our friends and allies who are still in the party need support not abandonment.
All the coordinator positions are due to be elected this year:
Chair * Campaigns * Elections * External Communications * International * Management * Trade Union Liaison Officer * Equality & Diversity * Finance * Internal Communications * Local Party * Policy Development * Policy Development Committee to support the Co-Ordinator (5 positions)
